You have to know where you stand before you can reach
your destination. “Business Navigation” is a core tenet of Robert Fisher’s
leadership development approach. This involves a calibration between an
individual leader’s perception of their ability and value and his or her
organization’s and stakeholders’ opinions.
Robert Fisher has developed services and tools to provide leaders with
situational assessment and directional guidance:
360ºR Assessment: A robust evaluation tool that interprets a range of
feedback from the leader, their organization and others impacted by their
work. The feedback captures the leader’s exceptional skills and
differentiators, their values, effectiveness motivating, managing and
communicating, and any Achilles’ heels. Areas of urgent developmental need
are identified and a plan is established to address these in conjunction with
the leader’s highest priority business goals.
The assessment includes in-person interviews, phone and email surveys, as
appropriate, to engage professionals interacting with the leader in
constructive, honest dialogue about business needs and the leader’s
contributions. The dialogue and survey instruments are designed to heighten
the commitment of the organization and all of its executive team to support
the goals of the leader. Other individuals important to the business,
including management peers, staff, board members, investors, business
partners, and community leaders can be involved in the assessment, to create
the most penetrating 360º picture of the leader.
Introductory Assessment: A rapid self-assessment that clarifies a
leader’s strengths and gaps, benchmarks the leader against other executives
in similar situations, and identifies developmental opportunities.
Executive Leadership Profiles (ELP): Either conducted stand-alone or in
conjunction with 360º evaluations, these profiles provide feedback from the
organization as well as from the press, media and other public sources about
a leader’s personality, skills and motivations.” The result is a colorful,
insightful and memorable “dossier” that a leader can use to understand and
shape their personal “brand.”
ELPs can be provided to individual leaders or their entire senior teams and
the profile documents can be delivered on a highly confidential basis or
shared with key constituents as desired.
Performance Evaluation: Live observation of clients in specific forums,
such as meetings and presentations, where a leader’s presence and
effectiveness must be near-perfect every day. Clients receive confidential,
ongoing feedback at convenient times for reflection.
